Free/Cheap Dates

There are so MANY endless things that you and your significant other can do together.

My boyfriend, Miguel, and I have been together for almost 4 years (4 years on August 23rd) and sooooo many people have asked us how the heck do we stay together for that long. To be honest, we are never bored when we're together (even on the phone)! But there are times when we do want to do something new so that our relationship and our dates don't feel so damn routine. We don't want to constantly be spending money, especially with how the economy is now, so here are some suggestions that you and your significant other can do.

1. Cook Together
I have so many magazines that have different recipes in them that I tear out and keep in a folder so that I can make them with Miguel and/or my friends! Go online and find a recipe from your favorite restaurant/chef. Try foodnetwork.com, copykat.com, or recipegoldmine.com. Ask you mom, grandma, his mom, his grandma--anyone really--for recipes for you two to make.

2. Play games at home
Invite him over to play games--cards (strip poker *hee hee*), Wii, Xbox, twister, Mad Gab, Uno, wrestle, tickle fights, WHATEVER! The options are endless! Miguel and I play games on the Wii. We also play card games like poker. We always place a wager--for example, the winner gets to dare the loser ANYTHINGGGG. Have fun with it!

3. Head to the beach/park
It's so romantic to be out enjoying nature with your significant other. Go to the beach, gaze into the horizon while cozying up with him, take a walk along the shore, sun bathe, swim, play frisbee, volleyball, make sand castles, write each others names in the sand, have a picnic, watch the sunset, etc. Go to the park, ride bikes, play basketball, soccer, baseball, volleyball, tennis, roll around in the grass, have a picnic, play on the play structures, etc. So many things to do!

4. Have a lazy day at home
Why not just chill at home and enjoy each others company? Lie around, talk, laugh, listen to your favorites songs and sing them together. Rent some movies and watch them together. Or if money's tight, borrow movies from friends, neighbors, family, whoever. Fix up some snacks to munch on and cuddle in bed or the couch and enjoy!

5. Go ice-skating or roller blading
General admissions is about $10, including renting the skates. Even if you don't know how to skate, you can enjoy this chance of holding on to him. If you both don't know how to skate, then you can both enjoy falling on your asses and makes some memories!

6. Costco
Yes, Costco! The best place ever! LoL! Hungry? No problem! Munch on samples for lunch (we do). We had a blast running from table to table trying to get more samples than we were allowed to, checked out the movies, books, magazines. Still hungry? We bought 2 hot dogs, a churro, and two drinks for under $5! For dessert, head to any ice cream parlor like Baskin Robins or Cold Stones and just ask to try a bunch of flavors. When you're done, just say your not "feelin" any of the flavors and walk out calmly. Voila! Free/cheap meal, entertainment, exercise, and free dessert.

7. Swim together
Go to a nearby place where there's a pool (obviously) like a gym, YMCA, a high school, recreational center, your backyard, wherever. It's more private than the beach or lake. Go when not a lot of people go (avoid Saturdays if you can) so you can have the pool to yourselves--or most of it anyways. There's a place near my house where it only costs $1 on certain days.

8. Bowling
Check to see what days there are discounts. Some of the bowling places here have 25 cents a game Wednesday and $1 Fridays. Again, place a wager! Winner gets ___________ and the loser has to ___________________.

The possibilities are endless!
